Course Description
Carers need to have exceptional communication skills to communicate with the elderly and persons with dementia. This module will provide guidelines and techniques for effective communicating, both verbal and non-verbal, with the person with dementia in the different stages of the disease. The student will learn necessary approaches, techniques, and skills to communicate and care better while considering the person, the environment, and culture. Students will learn practical applications in different scenarios for handling communication with the person with dementia using a soft approach in order to effectively communicate his/her message and elicit positive reaction and interaction.
