Dementia Care Online 2025 – Episode 1

Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD)

Understanding behaviors, improving care

The Institute for Dementia Care Asia (IDCA), in collaboration with Gunita para sa Dementia, Otsuka, Purple Angel, and Bahay San Jose, successfully launched the first episode of Dementia Care Online 2025 on July 30, 2025.

The session featured Ma. Lourdes Corrales-Joson, MD (Neurology & Psychiatry), who provided in-depth insights into Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) — a complex set of symptoms that can include agitation, depression, anxiety, delusions, and sleep disturbances.

This episode helped participants understand the underlying causes of these symptoms and explore practical strategies to improve the quality of care for people living with dementia.

Dementia Care Online 2025 is a free, expert-led educational series designed to provide accessible, evidence-based knowledge on dementia and aging-related topics. Each session is delivered online to reach participants globally and enhance awareness anytime, anywhere.

The next episode will focus on Fall Prevention with Dr. Francis Jonell Basilio on August 26, 2025.
