Course Description

In this module, the student will learn the different medical conditions that can result from the changes brought about by aging, called geriatric syndromes. Since assessment is the first step towards deciding on the proper type of care or services to be provided for the patient, the student will learn methods of gathering information to conduct health history, review records, and then perform a comprehensive geriatric assessment or CGA from which the student can identify the medical conditions to be treated and risks to be managed as part of preventive care. The module will highlight learning the value of listening to  patients as it makes the student understand how to care for them better.
